Minerva Academy FC have once again underlined their reputation as one of India’s most formidable youth football powerhouses after emerging as Group Champions of the AIFF Junior League, finishing the group stage with an outstanding record of eight wins and one draw in nine matches.

The Warriors accumulated 25 points from a possible 27, showcasing remarkable consistency throughout the campaign. Minerva’s attacking prowess and defensive discipline were evident in the statistics as they scored a staggering 60 goals while conceding only four, maintaining six clean sheets along the way.

This remarkable achievement adds to Minerva Academy’s already illustrious youth football legacy. The academy has previously won the Under-16 national title four times, reaching five finals in the category, a testament to its long-standing commitment to youth development and excellence in Indian football.

Minerva began their group stage campaign in emphatic fashion with a mammoth 16–0 victory over Shergill Soccer Academy, setting the tone for what would become a dominant run in the tournament. The Warriors followed this up with a commanding 7–1 win against Namdhari Sports Academy, before securing another convincing victory with a 6–0 triumph over YFC Khad.

One of the most significant fixtures of the group stage came against their regional rivals Punjab FC, where Minerva registered a thrilling 3–2 victory, demonstrating their ability to perform under pressure against strong opposition.

The Warriors continued their relentless form in the latter part of the group stage, producing three consecutive victories within six days to complete the double over YFC Khad, Namdhari Sports Academy, and Shergill Soccer Academy. Their dominance over the group was further reinforced with another hard-fought victory over Punjab FC, completing the double against their neighbours and cementing their position at the top of the table.

Several players stood out during Minerva’s impressive campaign. Laishram Mahesh Singh emerged as the top scorer of the group stage with 13 goals, playing a crucial role in the team’s attacking success. He was ably supported by Lunjalaithang Haokip and Konthoujam Chetan Singh, who both contributed eight goals each, further highlighting the squad’s attacking depth.

Minerva’s ability to combine clinical finishing with disciplined defending has been a defining feature of their campaign. The team’s structured style of play, relentless pressing, and ability to convert chances consistently overwhelmed opponents throughout the group stage.

With the group stage successfully completed, Minerva Academy FC will now shift their focus to the final round of the AIFF Junior League, which is scheduled to begin on 20 April in Goa.

The Warriors will head into the decisive stage of the tournament with strong momentum and confidence, aiming to continue their impressive run and add another national title to Minerva Academy’s decorated youth football history.
