Haryana Govt. appointed  1992 batch senior IPS officer Ajay Singhal  as DGP ,  in place of has been a OP Singh, who is retired on December 31 (Wednesday)

The committee of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) had finalized the panel of 3 IPS candidates for the post of Haryana DGP and sent this panel to the Haryana government. After which the government after deliberation stamped the name of Ajay Singhal and assigned him the responsibility of Haryana Police. Singhal's tenure as DGP will be for at least two years from the date of taking charge or till further orders.

The final panel sent to the Haryana govt by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) also had the name of former DGP Shatrujit Kapoor. Kapoor was the most senior in the panel. Because he is a 1990 batch IPS officer. But the Haryana government did not decide to make him DGP again. The main reason behind this was the controversy arising from the IPS suicide case involving Kapoor.
