BAWEJA XI CLINCH TROPHY IN THE JAKHAR TRUST’S CRICKET TOURNAMENT

Carrying on the noble mission of former IFFCO chairman Surinder Jakhar, who had launched “Nashon se door, khelon ki aur” campaign to keep youth away from drugs by associating them with sports, the Jakhar Trust organised 24th Abohar Cricket Tournament at Abha Square Stadium here. The two-week long tournament recorded an overwhelming response. The death anniversary of the architect of the campaign, Surinder Jakhar, is to be commemorated at the end of this week.

In a thrilling encounter, Baweja XI defeated Kings XI to clinch the tournament title. MLA Sandeep Jakhar attended as the chief guest and honored the winning team.

The final match was played between Kings XI and Baweja XI. Kings XI batted first and scored 143 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Baweja XI chased down the target, scoring 144 runs and winning the match. Arpit Baweja of Baweja XI was declared 'Man of the Match'. The winning team, Baweja XI, received a cash prize of Rs. 51,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up team received a cash prize of Rs. 31,000 and a trophy. Shyam, who won the 'Man of the Series' title, received a cash prize of Rs. 5100 and a trophy. Gaurav Nagpal was awarded Best Batsman, Pradeep Mangi Best Bowler, and Harshit Best Fielder, and they were all honored with cash prizes and trophies. Surinder Chanchal gave a running commentary.
