To celebrate the “Balidan Diwas” of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru at the memorial here, NGOs joint forum convener Praveen Chawla and Punjabi Sabhyachar Manch put in joint efforts.
People assembled at the 6.6 ft tall statue of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh that was unveiled in October 2022 Bhagat Singh’s nephew Prof. Jagmohan Singh and raised patriotic slogans.
Municipal Corporation Mayor Vimal Thatai was the chief guest for today. Colonel S.P.R. Gaba, chairman of the Manch, presided over the programme. Lekhak Parishad president Raj Sadosh was the keynote speaker.
Others, who offered floral tributes included Advocate Kiran Sharma, Advocate Sukhbir Kaur, Jaswinder Kaur, Monica Wadhwa Khurana, Abhilasha Bhatia, Market Committee Ex-Chairman Krishna Nagpal, Mandal BJP President Sumit Nagpal, Councillor Puneet Arora, Geeta Mandir President Dron Ahuja and Project Incharge Vivek Munjal, Seva Bharti President Naresh Baghla, Satpal. Gilhotra, Vipan Sharma, Deepak Chhapaula, Anil Siyag, Lalit Soni, Vinod Sharma, Satya Narain Sharma, Jatin Dhawan, Sonu Kataria, Ashok Magan, Ramesh Charaya, Anil Chawla, Kamal Khanna and Pawan Madaan. Ankur Garg, President of Punjabi Sabhyachar Manch welcomed everyone.
Mayor Vimal Thatai said, “people who sacrifice for their country and society can never be forgotten”. Raj Sadosh highlighted the glorious history of Abohar associated with the freedom movement. Colonel S.P.R. Gaba called upon people to unitedly celebrate the martyrdom days/birthdays of freedom fighters. Dr. Amandeep Arora expressed his gratitude to all.
