Raj Sadosh/Abohar.
Unseasonal heavy rains and hailstorms in the last few days have washed away the year-long hard work of the farmers of the area. MLA Sandeep Jakhar today visited various villages and dhanis to take stock of the damage caused to the crops.
MLA Jakhar reached Dhani Dande Wali, where he saw the wheat crop lying in the fields of farmer Raj Kumar. Appreciating the spirit of the farmer, Jakhar said, "I am always amazed to see the courage and fortitude of Annadata. The crop has suffered heavy losses, yet they are talking about finding a way out in this crisis.
The MLA strongly appealed to the administration and the government that the process of special girdawari should be completed without any delay as long as the crops are standing in the fields so that a correct and transparent assessment of the damage can be done.
Last year too, the orchards had suffered heavy losses, but the compensation has not reached the accounts of the farmers till date. This year's rains and hailstorms have also damaged the orchards of kinnow, pear, peach, etc. along with wheat. The MLA said that the government should not test the patience of the farmers anymore and provide them relief by providing an appropriate compensation amount within the time limit.
