800 students of Fazilka district, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Senu Duggal along with teachers and officials formed a human chain to raise awareness and unite the people against drugs. This chain was formed from Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium to DC Office Fazilka (3 km). Apart from this, 97304 students from government schools of the district (468 primary schools and 232 upper primary schools) took a pledge to stay away from drugs and to fight against drug addiction.
DC Dr. Senu Duggal said that there is no place for drugs in a healthy, educated and advanced society. Fazilka is a border district and the neighbouring enemy country keeps trying to send drugs here. Each citizen should be aware of this evil, the students will take this message to society.
Every effort is being taken by the Punjab government to eradicate drug addiction and in such a situation social awareness and social participation is required. If people cooperate, we can defeat drugs. Treatment of drug addicts is done in the state government hospitals absolutely free of charge and identification of such persons will be protected.

The students participated enthusiastically and raised slogans against drugs. The students took a vow that they will take this message against drug addiction to the society. On reaching the DC office, the students were given refreshment. ADC Mandeep Kaur thanked all for making the event a success.
