COMPETITIONS HELD ON INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY

International Mother Language Day was celebrated by the Post Graduate Punjabi Department of DAV College Abohar under the guidance of Principal Dr. Rajesh Kumar Mahajan.

Students actively participated in poetry recitation and speech competitions. Along with this, an art exhibition representing Punjabi culture was organized in which traditional items were displayed. The students showed interest in these objects related to heritage art.

HoD, Dr. Tarsem Sharma said that it is the duty of all of us to preserve, enhance and promote the mother tongue because culture develops through it. Linguistic crisis puts a question mark not only on humans but also on human culture. Students should develop a sense of self-respect towards their mother tongue. Dr. Satwinder Pal Kaur, Professor of Education Department, Panjab University, Chandigarh was especially present in this event. She gave the message of staying connected to one's art culture and mother tongue. The winning students in the competitions were rewarded.
