DELHI POLICE SPECIAL CELL ARRESTED EIGHT CADRES LINKED TO LeT HANDLER

 RAIDS AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN DELHI, KOLKATA AND TAMIL NADU DISMANTLED A BANGLADESHI MODULE OF HIGHLY RADICALIZED INDIVIDUALS AFFILIATED WITH LASHKAR-E-TOIBA.• SEVEN ACCUSED ARE BANGLADESHI NATIONALS AND HAD PROCURED INDIAN IDS TO CONCEAL THEIR IDENTITY AND HAVE ENTERED INDIA ILLEGALLY.• THEY WERE RECRUITED AND HANDLED BY A TRAINED KASHMIRI LET HANDLER OPERATING FROM BANGLADESH. • THE MODULE CONDUCTED RECONNAISSANCE OF VITAL INSTALLATIONS IN INDIA. • THE MODULE HEAD, SHABIR AHMAD LONE R/O VILLAGE KANGAN, DISTRICT SRINAGAR, J&K (PRESENTLY BASED IN BANGLADESH) WAS PREVIOUSLY ARRESTED AND CONVICTED IN SPECIAL CELL CASE IN 2007 ALONG WITH RECOVERY OF ARMS & AMMUNITION INCLUDING AK47 AND GRENADE.• SHABBIR AHMAD LONE FLED TO BANGLADESH TO REVIVE TERROR NETWORK OF LET IN INDIA AND TO REVIVE SLEEPER CELLS OF BANGLADESHI OPERATIVES BASED IN INDIA.

In a major counter-terror operation, team of the Special Cell — led by Insp. Sunil Rajain and Insp. Dheeraj under the close supervision of Sh. Rahul Vikram, ACP/NDR, and overall supervision of Shri Amit Kaushik, DCP/Special Cell/NDR, conducted multiple raids in Kolkata (West Bengal) and Tiruppur (Tamilnadu). These actions led to the dismantling of a LeT module and the arrest of eight LeT operatives. The timely apprehension of these individuals has averted some possible terror strikes in India.

The arrested accused identified as  Umar Faruk S/o Akhtar Hossain R/o Aswin tola, District Malda, West Bengal, Age- 31 Yrs,  Robiul Islam S/o Ramjan Ali R/o District Thakur Gaon, Bangladesh, Age-31 Yrs, 

Details of Arrested Tamil Nadu Module are as follows:   Md. Mizanur Rehman S/o Md. Afsar Rehman R/o District Bogura, Bangladesh, Age 32 Yrs, Md. Sefayat Hossain S/o Md. Zulfikar Ali R/o District Jhalakathi,, Bangladesh, Age 34 Yrs,  Md. Zahidul Islam S/o Abdul Jabbar R/o District Bogura, Bangladesh, Age 40 Yrs,  Md. Liton S/o Md. Ajmal R/o District Bogura, Bangladesh, Age 40 Yrs, Md. Uzzal S/o Md. Abjad Sarkar R/o District Bogura, Bangladesh, Age 27 Yrs,  Umar S/o Ajizul R/o District Bogura, Bangladesh, Age 32 Yrs, 

Police said, on 08.02.2026 a written complaint was given by CISF shift in charge to SHO P.S Supreme Court Metro regarding affixing of Pro pak and Pro terror posters by unknown individuals at Janpath Metro Station.

During enquiry and verification, similar posters were found affixed at few other locations in Delhi. The posters contained photographs idealizing Slain Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorist Burhan wani and others. One of the posters read “India stop genocide & Free Kashmir” as well as some terms in Urdu which translates to “Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai” & “Kashmiri Ek jut-ta Divas”.

Accordingly, a case was registered at P.S Supreme Court Metro vide FIR No. 01/26, U/s 152/196/197 BNS & 3 DPDP Act and investigation of the case was transferred to Special Cell/NDR due to its sensitive nature.

DEVELOPMENT OF INITIAL INFORMATION: After registration of above-mentioned case, a team led by Insp. Ajay Kumar SHO P.S. Supreme Court Metro in the close supervision of Sh. Kushal Pal Singh, IPS, DCP Metro traced the initial trail which was subsequently developed into actionable operational data.

OPERATION: Special Cell was already working on gathering intelligence regarding activities of Lashkar-E-Toiba operatives and their Bangladeshi connections after the recent developments in Bangladesh.

 Human sources were deployed at various places. The application of these resources bore fruit and details of movement of accused persons in Delhi and Gurugram were obtained. The available details were extensively analyzed and developed into actionable & operational intelligence.

 Based on the technical analysis and manual verification of available data, the accused were detected and their current location was traced to Kolkata, West Bengal. On 15.02.26, hideout of Kolkata module was identified and a raid was conducted in Majherpara, Hatiara Gote, Kolkata and the two accused persons (Umar and Robiul Islam) were arrested.

 On 21.02.26, hideouts of Tamil Nadu module were identified and six cadres were arrested from Tirrupur after simultaneous raids.

RECOVERIES:  Multiple pro-pak & pro-terror Posters found from the rented accommodation of accused persons., Multiple posters found affixed in multiple locations in West Bengal., 10 Mobile phones containing incriminating materials., 25 Credit/Debit Cards, 05 P.O.S. machines,  Bangladeshi Passports & Identity Cards 

PRELIMINARY INTERROGATION:

 Umar Faruk revealed that he came in contact with Shabir Ahmad Lone @ Raja @ Kashmiri in March 2025 and was indoctrinated by him. Shabir appointed Umar to spearhead LeT operations in India. Shabir Ahmad Lone’s plan was to use Bangladeshi Nationals who have assumed Indian identities to carry out terror strikes in India.

In December 2025, Umar was directed by Shabir to conduct reconnaissance of important places in India. Shabir also directed Umar to send videos after recce. After a successful reconnaissance, Shabir directed Umar to visit him in Bangladesh for further directions and tasked him to recruit more Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in India. As per directions of Shabir Lone, Umar rented a hideout in Kolkata and provided the details of same to Shabir Ahmad. This rented accommodation was meant to be used as a hideout and as a base for terror activities.

 Shabir Ahmad Lone also directed Umar to arrange weapons. In order to materialize this, Umar was contacting local sources.

 On 06.02.26, Umar Faruk and Robiul Islam took a connecting flight to Delhi from Kolkata via Patna. In the night of 07.02.26 they affixed these pro-Pak & pro-terror posters at 10 different locations in Delhi and left for Kolkata via train on 08.02.26. They also made videos of affixing posters and sent these videos to Shabir Ahmad Lone. Shabir Ahmad Lone contacted Umar Faruk and Robiul Islam to congratulate them and directed them to affix these posters in Kolkata also.
 Shabir Ahmad had one more accomplice namely Saidul Islam, a Bangladeshi national and is presently in a foreign country. Saidul Islam facilitated the illegal entry of Shabir Ahmad Lone in Bangladesh and also arranged his hideout in Bangladesh. Saidul Islam was also responsible for providing details of Tamil Nadu group of LeT to Shabir Ahmad and Umar Faruk.
 Umar Faruk and Robiul Islam affixed these posters at multiple locations in Kolkata and also made videos and sent them to Shabir Ahmad Lone.
 Shabir Ahmad Lone was planning to carry out terror incidents in India through Bangladeshi Nationals.

DETAILS OF MAIN HANDLER OF LeT:  Shabir Ahmad Lone @ Raja @ Kashmiri S/o Md. Akbar Lone R/o Vill. Kangan, District Sri Nagar, Jammu & Kashmir.  Previously arrested by Special Cell in 2007 along with heavy cache of Arms & Ammunition including Ak-47 and grenades and was incarcerated in Tihar Jail till 2018.  At the time of his arrest in 2007, Shabir had direct links with head of Jamat-Ut-Dawa - terrorist Hafiz Saeed and his terror deputy Zaki Ur Rehman Lakhvi.  Trained Militant of LeT and currently handling India bound operations of LeT while being based in Bangladesh.
 Undertook Daura-e-Aam (basic terror training) and Daura-e-Khaas (Advanced terror training) from Muzaffarabad LeT camp.  Backed and funded by ISI to recruit Bangladeshi youth residing illegally in India for planning terror plots.
