Upholding UAE decision to celebrate 2019 as year of tolerance and bring improvement in interfaith relations, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha spiritual head Mahant Swami Maharaj visited Gurunanak Darbar Gurudwara in Dubai.

Earlier Gurdwara management chairman Surinder Singh Kandhari participated in a seminar organised by the BAPS. He invited Swami Ji to visit the Gurudwara that was the first in the world to get ISO certification. The holy shrine was formally inaugurated on January 17, 2012. The main complex has been developed over one lakh sq ft of land that was given by the government.

Mahant Swami Maharaj was on his first visit to Abu Dhabi to lay foundation stones for the first Hindu Mandir. The ceremony was attended by UAE ministers and dignitaries from other faiths also.

The BAPS chief was escorted to the Gurudwara by Swami Brahmavihari incharge of organisational activities in the Middle East. Swamiji offered garland to Guru Granth Sahib Ji, listened to recitation of Gurbani, interacted with Sikh Sangat. He was told that the Gurudwara was mentioned with reverence by Gunnies World Records for distributing highest number of saplings to promote environment preservation in 2018 in the deserts states. Gunnies World Records title was also set for the most nationalities having a continental breakfast hosted by the Gurdwara management.

Welcoming the BAPS Sadhus, Kandhari said Sikhism has always embraced diversity as it has been part of our faith and belief, that we are all human beings to be treated with respect. Gurudwara has been spearheading charity and volunteer work not only for the Indian community but for the entire UAE community as well. We feel blessed to give in any form or in kind as this is our way of selfless service to the society.
