Hundreds of people participated in the Shobha Yatra that started from Ramlila Ground to Dussehra Ground in Abohar on Friday

To mark the win of good over evil, huge effigies of Ravana, Kumbhakarna and Meghanada filled with fire crackers were burnt today evening at the Government Senior Secondary Boys School ground. Dussehra Committee president Chand Setia said that permission to celebrate the festival was recently received, despite this; best possible efforts were made to maintain the glory for which the town was known for the past few decades.

The effigies had to be prepared by specialists for the first time outside gaushala as some other religious ceremonies were going on there.

Hundreds of people participated in the “Shobha Yatra” that was taken out from Ramlila Ground to Dussehra Ground. The same was welcomed by chief guest Sandeep Jakhar, Jaiveer Jakhar, Mayor Vimal Thatai, Improvement Trust chairman Anil Nagpal, Dussehra Committee president Chand Setia, secretary Sham Lal Arora and others.

Heavy security arrangements were made by the police in and around the Dussehra Ground. Dozens of vendors had put up roadside stalls and had good business this time as Covid situation had eased much.
