In Dangar Khera village near here, the lack of a sports ground has become a serious issue. Despite having approximately 6,500 voters and over 500 residents holding government positions, the absence of a sports field is stifling the talents of the village’s youth. Once renowned for excellence in state-level sports competitions, Dangar Khera is now struggling to establish a significant connection between its youth and sports.
The village has launched the "Mission Playground 2025" campaign, demanding land allocation from the government for a proper sports ground. Residents recalled that the Chief Minister praised the village for the highest number of govt jobs; however, it is disappointing that no land is made available here for a sports ground. Local youths have stated, “The Punjab government’s 'Yudh Nashian Virudh' campaign is commendable, but it is essential for today's youth to have a sports ground to stay away from drugs. Sports are not just a means of entertainment; they are a crucial part of our development.”
Through "Mission Playground 2025" the Panchayat, former Sarpanch, and other respected individuals have shown solidarity to bring this issue to the forefront of government priorities. They stated, “Our village has established its identity in Punjab, yet we still lack adequate facilities for sports. A designated sports ground is not just a place for participation in sports but also a vital tool for the overall development of our children. The "Mission Playground 2025" initiative hopes that the government will undoubtedly fulfill this demand.”
Sarpanch Shefali Taak, ex-Sarpanch Khajan Chand, Market Committee ex-Chairman Sohan and other eminent persons have supported the Mission.
