Under the guidance of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP Operations, UT, Chandigarh, supervision of Sh. Vikas Sheokand, DSP Operations, teams of Chandigarh Police Operation Cell headed by Inspector Ranjit Singh, Inspector Operations achieved major success by arresting four drug peddlers & arms suppliers namely Ajit Singh @ Karam Singh, Amar Singh S/o Labhe Chand, Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi S/o Sitar Mohd and Rishab Dev S/o Chanan Dev and recovered 1 Kg 790.44 Grams of Charas, 53.90 Grams of Heroin, one Pistol and one country made Desi Katta.
As per the directions of senior officers and keeping in the view upcoming Independence Day Celebration-2025 & festive season, Chandigarh Police Operations Cell intensified the checking / inspection vehicles in the area of UT, Chandigarh.
Police said on 06.08.2025, on secret information, team of Operation Cell apprehend a person namely Ajit Singh @ Karam Singh R/o Village-Lachkandhi, PO-Bardhan, District-Mandi (HP) and recovered 494.44 grams Charas from his possession. Consequently, a case FIR No. 75, dated 06.08.2025 U/S 20 NDPS Act, Police Station Maulijagran, Chandigarh has been registered against him. Accused Ajit Singh S/o Karam Singh produced before the Hon’ble Court and 04 days police remand was obtained.
During the course of interrogation, accused Ajit Singh disclosed that he was working as a waiter in a Hotel/club, Sector-11, Panchkula. During the work at Hotel he came in touch with a drug peddler and started selling drugs in the tri-city area. He received the drug from peddlers i.e. Mandi & Kullu Himachal Pradesh and distributes the drugs in local area.
In another case ipon the information getting from the first accused (Ajit Singh), teams of Operation Cell apprehend a person namely Amar Singh S/o Labhe Chand R/o Village-Bhadeuli, District- Kullu (HP) and recovered 708 gram of Charas from his possession. Consequently, a case FIR No. 84, dated 08.08.2025 U/S 20 NDPS Act, Police Station-Sector-26, Chandigarh has been registered against him.
During the investigation, it is revealed that accused Amar Singh is a habitual offender and remained involved in drug peddling business since a long. Previously, in 2016 he was arrested by Himachal Police alongwith 1.25 Kgs Charas (Commercial Quantity) and a case FIR No 304 dated 03.12.2016 U/s 20 NDPS Act has been registered against him at PS-Mandi. During trial he was sentenced for 12 years imprisonment by the Hon’ble Court. He got bail 3-4 months before and currently was on bail. The Accused Amar Singh purchased the drugs from the area of Kullu and then supplied to the local distributor in the area of tri-city.
In an other case as a result of continuous sincere efforts put in by team of Operation Cell and alertness, team got another brake through by arresting an active drug peddler from Sector-27 with 588 grams of Charas. The accused identified as Rishab Dev S/o Chanan Dev R/o H. No 518, Village- Chhoua Dhar, Tehsil-Thung, District-Mandi (HP). In this regard a case FIR No 87 dated 11.08.2025 U/s 20 NDPS Act, PS-26, UT, Chandigarh has been registered against him.
During the course of investigation he disclosed that he doing farming of vegetables and simultaneously Hashish (Charas) in his fields. He process and rectified the drug in consumable form by himself and supplied the drugs in the area of Tri-city under the guise of vegetables supply.
Police said, in a fouth case, on getting secret information about the presence/activity of an Arms / drug Supplier in the area of Chandigarh, team of Operation Cell took immediate action and succeed to apprehend a person namely Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi S/o Sitar Mohd R/o Village-Pamour, District- Fatehgarh Sahib (Pb) from slip road NMIMS College, IRB Complex Road, Chandigarh. Team recovered 53.90 gram of Heroin from the possession of accused Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi. A case FIR No. 67, dated 08.08.2025 U/S 21 NDPS Act, Police Station Sarangpur, Chandigarh has been registered against the accused.
During the course of investigation accused Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi disclosed that he is a active member & sharp shooter of Harpreet @ Happy gang. Harpreet @ Happy supplied him illegally weapons for further providing to another gang members active in the area of Tri-city.
Accused Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi and his companion Gurjant @ Janta received the weapon and drugs on the direction of Harpreet @ happy, who operating the gang from Portugal. They further supplied the illegal weapon to the sharp shooters and drug to the local drug peddlers. Gurjant @ Janta is now in abroad (Italy).
Further, accused Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi is also a proclaimed offender of Police Station-Bassi Pathana, District-Fatehgarh Sahib in case FIR No 96 of 2017. He is also habitual offender and has multiple FIRs under Attempt to Murder and Arms Act in various Police Stations of District- Fatehgarh Sahib (Pb). As his village is situated near Mohali & Chandigarh, he was running their drug peddling activity from his village. He supplied the drugs in the area of Mohali & Chandigarh on demand basis.
During the police remand one illegal Pistol and one country made Desi Katta recovered on the instance of accused Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi. Also he remained involved in an Attempt to Murder case in District-Fatehgarh Sahib, a case FIR No 113 dated 23.11.20221 U/s 307, 325, 506, 148, 19 IPC & 25-54-59 Arms Act, PS- Badali Ala Singh, District-Fatehgarh Sahib (Pb) was registered against him.
The teams of Operation Cell are continuously working on the information got from the all arrested accused to bust/crackdown the nexus of drug peddlers currently in the area of Tri-city.

RECOVERIES: Ajit Singh 494.44 grams of Charas, Amar Singh 708 grams of Charas, Shamshad Ali @ Jaggi, 53.90 gram of Heroin and one Pistol one country made Desi Katta, Rishab Dev (30) R/o Mandi HP 588 grams Charas.
