Major General JS Cheema, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh & Chandigarh, flagged off a Health Run on Sunday at Sukhna Lake Sports Complex, Sector 6 Chandigarh. Spreading awareness about healthy living and strengthening the campaign against drug abuse was the objective of this event.
The event was organised by NCC Group Chandigarh, under the able guidance of Brigadier Vikram Singh Chauhan, YSM, Group Commander, NCC Group HQ, Chandigarh in co-ordination with Education Department, UT Chandigarh. More than 2500 enthusiastic participants, including NCC Cadets, students, sportspersons and members of the general public joined the run showcasing the spirit of unity and determination to build a healthier Society. The initiative aimed to encourage fitness as a way of life inspiring the youth to shun drugs and embrace positive habits.
Major General JS Cheema, in his address lauded the spirited participation and said, “The youth of nation is our pride. Through fitness, discipline and awareness, we can protect them from the scourge of drugs and guide them towards a brighter future”. He called upon citizens to join hands in building a healthy, drug-free society.
