Alka Awasthi, working at Ananta Medicare Limited, Sriganganagar, was honoured with the President's Award by President Droupadi Murmu for her remarkable contributions to the National Service Scheme (NSS) at a grand ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.
Alka said that receiving the award from the hands of the President was the proudest moment of her life. She mentioned that on this occasion, she felt immense experience and pride. Alka's father Kirti Kumar, mother Meera, and other family members were also present at the ceremony, who felt extremely proud of this achievement.
Alka obtained a PG degree in Ayurveda from Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Jalandhar. There, she joined NSS and actively participated in various socially useful schemes run by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Alka has done significant work in the areas of women empowerment and women’s hygiene. Under her leadership, a special campaign created a 300-meter-long chain of sanitary pads, which earned a place in the Guinness World Records.
The President inspired the recipients of awards to continue such efforts in civil society. The President particularly encouraged the youth to remain active on social issues and contribute to nation-building.
Alka originally hails from Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh. She began her social service during her school education, with her contribution in the field of cow service being particularly noteworthy. She has already been honored by the Shahjahanpur Municipality for this work.
