The CBI Court on Monday framed charges against all 14 accused persons including Lalu Prasad Yadav, Smt Rabri Devi, STejashwi Prasad Yadav, Prem Chand Gupta and his wife Sarla Gupta, IRCTC officials, Kochhar brothers and others in IRCTC case.
CBI had registered the instant case on 05.07.2017 against Lalu Prasad Yadav, officers of IRCTC and others with the allegation that Lalu Prasad Yadav, while working as Minister of Railways, Govt. of India, entered into a criminal conspiracy with Vijay Kochhar and Vinay Kochhar of M/s Sujata Hotel Private Limited (SHPL) (owners of Hotel Chanakya, Patna) & others, in award of contract for leasing out of existing Railway Hotels known as Bengal Railway Nagpur (BNR) Hotels situated at Ranchi and Puri.
In pursuance to the said criminal conspiracy, Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav by abusing his official position, in connivance with various officers posted at IRCTC, New Delhi, extended undue favour to SHPL on extraneous consideration.
In this regard, a high value prime land at Patna was sold by Kochhar brothers to a company being run by a close aide of Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, namely, Shri Prem Chand Gupta (Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha from RJD) and his associates. Later, this company alongwith said prime land was taken over by the family members (Smt. Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Prasad Yadav) of Lalu Prasad Yadav at a throw away price. The property in question was bought in the name of M/s Delight Marketing Company Private Limited (DMCPL) (Now LARA Projects LLP) controlled by Shri Prem Chand Gupta and was held by him for the ultimate benefit of Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family members.
After completion of investigation, a chargesheet was filed against Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, Smt Rabri Devi, Shri Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Prem Chand Gupta and 10 others.
The Court has now fixed the case for prosecution evidence from 27.10.2025 to 07.11.2025 on day-to-day basis.
