WHERE DID THE MGNREGA FUNDS DISAPPEAR? MANN GOVERNMENT IS UNDER FIRE OVER CENTRAL GRANTS, ₹6,000 CRORE MGNREGA ASSISTANCE — WHY NO WORK FOR LABOURERS?
Face2News/Chandigarh
The Aam Aadmi Party government has built a politics of lies, propaganda, and showmanship in Punjab, whereas the ground reality is completely different. Under MGNREGA, the BJP-led central government has given Punjab more than ₹6,000 crore over the past years and has released ₹842 crore in this financial year alone. Despite such massive assistance, labourers are not getting work. The clear question is — where has this money actually gone? This question was raised today by Punjab Bharatiya Janta Party working president Ashwani Sharma to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
The failure of the Aam Aadmi Party government has also been exposed in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The central government approved more than one lakh houses, but the state government could forward only 76,000, while the files of 24,000 houses were kept pending without a reason. For flood-affected people, the Modi government approved 36,000 houses, but the Mann government could approve only 30,000. The remaining 6,000 houses are still stuck in files.
Even in the agriculture sector, the support provided by the Centre is not reaching the ground. Despite ₹74 crore worth of free wheat seed assistance, 12,500 quintals of berseem seed, and ₹3,000 crore of capital investment support, the condition of roads remains worse than ever. In the name of development, the Mann government has offered only excuses and false claims.
Today, the entire Punjab is asking the same question — “Bhagwant Mann Ji, where has the MGNREGA money gone?”
