The CBI Court Ahmedabad, on Tuesday has convicted and sentenced three private persons, namely, Atul Naranbhai Panchal, Proprietor of M/s National Machine Tools, Ahmedabad, Mahendra Singh P.Vaghela, Employee of M/s National Machine Tools, Ahmedabad, and Ghanshyam Rambrich Pandey, Prop. Of M/s Ahmedabad Road Carriers, Ahmedabad to Three Years Imprisonment with a fine of Rs. 30,000 each in a fraud case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 22.06.2011 against Naran Panchal, Prop. of M/s. National Machine Tools, Ahmedabad; Atul Naranbhai Panchal and Unknown officials of ONGC, Mumbai and Unknown others on the allegation that the accused Atul Naranbhai Panchal, in conspiracy with unknown officials of M/s ONGC and unknown others, fraudulently and dishonestly obtained payment of Rs. 67,58,938 from M/s. ONGC Ltd., on 01.06.2011 by falsely showing dispatch of goods on 29.04.2011, though they had not dispatched the goods in question, and hence, were not eligible for payment as per the terms and conditions of the said purchase order, and thereby cheated M/s. ONGC Ltd.
After completion of investigation, CBI filed charge-sheet on 27.12.2011 against the accused Atul Naranbhai Panchal, Prop. Of M/s National Machine Tools, Ahmedabad; Bhavin Patel, Surveyor of M/s Det Norske Veritas, Ahmedabad; Mahendra Singh P.Vaghela, Employee of M/s National Machine Tools, Ahmedabad and Ghanshyam Rambrich Pandey, Prop. Of M/s Ahmedabad Road Carriers, Ahmedabad.
The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused persons accordingly.
The case against the accused Bhavin Patel, Surveyor of M/s Det Norske Veritas, Ahmedabad was separated by the Hon’ble Court as he is absconding.
