Abdul Rasheed Qureshi, a tireless defender of the Constitution and law, and a symbol of judicial independence, was remembered at a ceremony held at the Democratic Lawn of the Lahore High Court Bar. Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, head of the Pakistan Democratic Party, presided the programme. Special guests included Supreme Court senior lawyer Raja Zulqarnain Advocate, former Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar, and former member of the Supreme Court Bar’s Executive Committee Ghulamullah Khan Joya.
Speakers said, “Qureshi Sahib is no longer among us, but his struggle, his courage, his sacrifices, and his tireless services for the supremacy of the Constitution will always remain part of history. He was a lamp that has gone out, yet left its light in every home.”
Mian Ghulamullah Khan Joya Advocate, Munsaf Awan Advocate Supreme Court, Shahbaz Rasheed Qureshi Advocate (President PDP Punjab), Malik Ehtesham-ul-Hassan, Central President of MCB Employees Trade Union, Mian Abdul Qayyum Advocate, Hafiz Noor Muhammad Kasuri (former Advisor to the Prime Minister of Pakistan), Danish Baloch, Ali Imran Shaheen, addressed the gathering.

A resolution passed at the ceremony, strongly urged the Lahore High Court Bar to formally designate Qureshi’s dedicated seat as the “Rasheed Qureshi Corner” so that future generations may remain aware of the struggle of this great soldier.
Notably, Abdul Rasheed Qureshi had roots at Abohar where the family lived in Sukhera Basti till the Partition of the country.
