The CBI, Court Lucknow, on Saturday, has convicted and sentenced the accused Satyendra Singh Gangwar, the then Chief Finance & Accounts Officer, District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Ballia; Ashok Kumar Upadhyay, the then Junior Accounts Clerk, DRDA, Ballia and Raghunath Yadav (Private Person) to Five Years Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) with a total fine of Rs. 77,000 for Causing wrongful loss to the Govt. Exchequer of over Rs. One Crore.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the instant case on 31.10.2008 by taking over the case crime No. 49B/2006 (EOW No. 244/06) registered against 135 accused persons of PS Garwar, Dist Ballia, UP. It was alleged that the accused persons had caused wrongful loss to the Govt. Exchequer under Sampurna Grameen Rozgar Yojna (SGRY) to the tune of Rs. 75,12,190.00 in cash and food grain worth Rs. 31.10 lakh and corresponding gain to themselves by cheating, committing forgery for the purpose of cheating, using forged documents as genuine and causing disappearance of records.
After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 30.06.2010 against Satyendra Singh Gangwar, the then Chief Finance & Accounts Officer, DRDA, Ashok Kumar Upadhyay, the then Junior Accounts Clerk DRDA and Raghunath Yadav (Private Person).
The Hon’ble Court, after the trial, convicted and sentenced the accused persons accordingly.
