A Coordination Meeting between the CBI, Officers from Department of Financial Services (DFS) and Chief Vigilance Officers of Public Sector Banks was held on Monday.
During the day-long meeting all pending matters pertaining to ongoing Bank Fraud Investigations and Prosecutions being handled by CBI were discussed. The agenda of the conference was to enhance inter-departmental cooperation and expedite investigations pertaining to bank fraud cases.
During the meeting, detailed presentations were made by the senior officers from CBI and Public Sector Banks on relevant operational issues. Officers from CBI and Public Sector Banks exchanged case-specific details and deliberated on the way forward to expedite pending investigations. Further efforts to streamline procedures and ensure proactive cooperation in matters related to obtaining previous approvals and prosecution sanctions under the Prevention of Corruption Act were undertaken.
Issues related to Mule accounts being used in Cyber Frauds and means to curb them were also discussed.
Several pending issues between CBI and Public Sector Banks pertaining to ongoing investigations were sorted out. Emphasis was laid on continuing structured engagement and institutional coordination to expedite investigations, resolve pending issues, and ensure timely completion of investigations. It was agreed to maintain momentum and reinforce institutional collaboration to overcome procedural bottlenecks.
Senior officers of Banking Fraud Investigation Division of CBI, senior officials of DFS, MoF and CVOs of all PSU Banks participated in the meeting.
