UNITED SIKHS marked a historic moment in its global advocacy journey by presenting the UNITED SIKHS 2025 Global Report to Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra, widow of the legendary human rights defender Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra, during the solemn commemoration of the 30th anniversary of his martyrdom held at the Grand Empire Banquet Hall in Surrey on December 21st.

The ceremony honored the enduring legacy of Jaswant Singh Khalra, who courageously exposed thousands of extrajudicial killings and disappearances in Punjab, paying the ultimate price for his commitment to truth and justice. His sacrifice continues to inspire generations of human rights defenders worldwide.

The presentation of the Global Report to Bibi Khalra symbolizes the continuation of his mission: amplifying voices against injustice, advocating for the dignity of marginalized communities, and strengthening global solidarity. The report highlights UNITED SIKHS’
humanitarian and advocacy work across continents, including disaster relief, civil rights campaigns, and youth empowerment initiatives.

“This is a reaffirmation of our collective pledge to carry forward the vision of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra,” said Gurvinder Singh, International Humanitarian Aid Director, UNITED SIKHS. “His courage reminds us that truth must never be silenced, and justice must always be pursued.”

UNITED SIKHS was honored to be one of the few organizations that were given an opportunity to address the gathering. Our International Humanitarian Aid Director Gurvinder Singh reiterated that, “The legacy of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra is not just of documentation but of action. His relentless pursuit of justice in the face of overwhelming odds and threats is not just inspiring but a guiding light. UNITED SIKHS carries that forth through our UMEED Helpline which provides resources, assistance and aid to the vulnerable, voiceless and marginalized members of society while allowing them to remain anonymous - in essence creating a space free of fear yet consolation and comfort across the USA, Canada and India. Because we owe it to him and our faith to make sure we follow up planning with concrete action.”

The commemoration brought together community leaders, activists, and youth, underscoring the importance of remembering Khalra’s sacrifice not as history alone, but as a living call to action. UNITED SIKHS emphasized that the Global Report is both a testament to ongoing struggles and a roadmap for future advocacy rooted in dignity, transparency, and collective recognition.

UNITED SIKHS is an international, non-profit humanitarian organization affiliated with the U.N., committed to empowering disadvantaged and minority communities across the globe.
