ANTF NABS WIFE, MOTHER OF DRUG SMUGGLER; 2 KG HEROIN, RS 47.5 LAKH DRUG MONEY SEIZED

The Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has arrested the wife and mother of notorious drug smuggler Sandeep Singh alias Seepa and recovered 2 kg of heroin, drug money amounting to Rs 47.50 lakh, besides 100 grams of gold and 500 grams of silver from their possession.

 

AIG ANTF Gurinderbir Singh said that the task force had been conducting sustained raids in connection with the case. “The wife and mother of Sandeep had gone missing soon after his arrest. Acting on specific inputs that they were staying in Ludhiana, a trap was laid and both the accused, Rano, the mother, and Harpreet Kaur, the wife—were apprehended. During the search of the house where they were residing, 2 kg heroin, Rs 47.50 lakh drug money, 100 grams of gold and 500 grams of silver were recovered,” he said, adding that the house had been recently purchased.

Earlier on November 22, the ANTF sleuths had arrested Sandeep Singh alias Seepa, a resident of Shanna Sher Singh Wala village in Kapurthala district, while he was returning from Bagge Ke Uthar village in the Jalalabad area in Fazilka Distt.,  after receiving a massive consignment of 50.14 kg heroin in a car (PB 09 AQ 3598).

Talking to the mediapersons, AIG ANTF Gurinderbir Singh said that the task force had been conducting sustained raids in connection with the case. “The wife and mother of Sandeep had gone missing soon after his arrest. He further said that preliminary investigation revealed that the gold and silver ornaments had been purchased using drug money. Gurinderbir Singh added that so far, a total of 52 kg of heroin and Rs 68 lakh in drug proceeds had been recovered in the case.

“The drug network in this case has links with Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat, and further recoveries are expected in the coming days,” the AIG added.
