DR. SANDEEP JAIN RE-NOMINATED AS SLAUGHTERHOUSE INSPECTION COMMITTEE MEMBER

Dr. Sandeep Kumar Jain, a dedicated animal rights and animal welfare activist in the region for over twenty-five years, has been re-nominated by the Animal Welfare Board of India (Government of India) as a member of the Slaughterhouse Inspection Committee.

Dr. Jain has been co-opted by the Animal Welfare Board of India, under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, as a member of the Slaughterhouse Inspection Committee recognising his knowledge, dedication, experience, and compassion for animals.

The committee members are: Ram Krishna Raghuvanshi (Member, AWBI), Chairman; Dr. Mani Lal Valliyate, Dr. Mukesh Kumar Gupta; Member, Animal Welfare Board of India, Sudhir Kumar Srivastava, IG (BSF), Retired; Dr. Sandeep Kumar Jain, Kamlesh Shah and J.P. Saxena.

In addition, members nominated by the state's Animal Husbandry Department, along with representatives from the state's local administration, food safety, and agricultural produce marketing (animal markets) departments, will also be included. They will assist the committee nominated by the Animal Welfare Board of India in preventing animal cruelty in slaughterhouses.

It is noteworthy that, as per the instructions of the Supreme Court, inspection of slaughterhouses is necessary to prevent cruelty to innocent animals and illegal slaughter.
