After four years of neglect, the AAP-led government released funds for some urban development schemes but the work goes on slow pace and none monitors the same.
The reconstruction of Street-6 started on December 24 last year in the presence of senior AAP activists with much fanfare, but now the street has become a victim of laziness and disorganization.
Street-6 links the circular road to Sukhera Basti and other colonies. People shared sweets when work started but now its slow pace has increased the problems of the local residents manifold. While inaugurating the work, AAP leaders claimed that this road would be ready in just one and a half months.
Even after more than two and a quarter months, not even half of the construction work has been completed. The situation is that deep excavations have been done at three places in the name of sewerage repair, due to which the traffic has been completely disrupted. Recently, a car was saved from falling into a deep pit, thereby averting a major accident.
Water supply in the area has come to a standstill due to breakage of pipelines. Work on 8th Chowk has stopped for many days, due to which local residents are forced to live a miserable life. Dust, mud, jam and chaos have made the daily life of people like hell.
Residents allege that the quality of work is poor. If shortcomings are already visible in this road being built with the funds from the District Planning Board, then it is natural that question marks will be raised on its strength and life.
