The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday held a unique protest outside the Punjab Vidhan Sabha after Congress Leader Partap Singh Bajwa made derogatory remarks against Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO during a rally in Jandiala Guru. Led by Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO, several AAP MLAs and party leaders arrived at the Vidhan Sabha with a band baja (brass band) to register their protest and demand an apology from the Congress leader.

As the band played, AAP leaders marched towards the Vidhan Sabha and raised slogans condemning the controversial statement made by Partap Singh Bajwa. The unusual protest drew significant attention and was aimed at highlighting the gravity of the remarks and the need for accountability from the Congress leadership.

Speaking to the media during the protest, Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO said,“The remarks made by Partap Singh Bajwa are highly objectionable and insulting not just to me but to the entire Dalit community. By mocking the livelihood of marginalised communities, Partap Singh Bajwa has exposed the mindset of the Congress leadership towards the poor and Dalit sections of society.”

Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO further said, “The people of Punjab are watching the arrogance of Congress leaders closely, and they will give a fitting reply to those who insult the dignity and livelihoods of poor and Dalit communities.”

Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO also pointed out, “We had earlier asked Partap Singh Bajwa to apologise for his statement. Instead of expressing regret, he has continued to remain silent. When Partap Singh Bajwa faces us today, we will again ask him whether he stands by the words he used against the Dalit community.”

AAP leaders asserted that insulting the dignity and livelihoods of poor and marginalised people is unacceptable and emphasised that the Congress leadership must answer for such remarks. They reiterated that Partap Singh Bajwa should immediately apologise to the Dalit community for his insensitive statement.
