Serious allegations have been leveled against Dhanaula SHO Lakhbir Singh following an incident in Rajgarh village, Barnala. During a dispute over street construction, the SHO allegedly used abusive and obscene language toward women at the scene. Distressed by the incident, a local youth, Manjinder Singh, reportedly attempted suicide by consuming a poisonous spray. The SHO has been suspended by the police department.

Congress MLA Kuldeep Singh Kala Dhillon, after interacting with the affected women, questioned why no FIR has been registered against the SHO despite the incident being captured on CCTV. Addressing a press conference, the MLA termed the suspension as mere formality and demanded strict legal action.

The MLA also criticized the ruling government, alleging that police stations have been turned into “centers of corruption” and accused state bodies like the Women’s Commission and SC Commission of failing to act, calling them “puppets” of those in power.

Issuing a strong warning, Dhillon gave the police administration a two-day ultimatum to register a case against the SHO. He said that failure to act would lead to mass protests, for which the police and administration would be held responsible.
