On the occasion of World Theatre Day, a deeply moving play titled ‘Khwaab – Ek Buzurg Ki Atmakatha’ (Dream – An Old Man’s Autobiography), written by Alok Shukla, touched the hearts of the audience last evening. The play was presented under the aegis of Rashtriya Kala Mandir and directed by the talented actor-director Vijay Jora.
Based on the autobiography of an elderly father, the play featured a highly impactful performance by renowned actor Gaurav Balana in the lead role. His emotionally charged solo performance was so compelling that the audience remained glued to their seats, holding their breath till the end.
Vikram Monga and Bhavya Gupta enriched the play with their strong supporting roles, while Umang Sharma’s stage design, sensitive lighting, and background music added even greater emotional depth to the performance. Director Vijay Jora transformed this solo play into such a powerful presentation that it became not just a stage production, but a significant social message.
Chief guests Dr. Jaspreet Kochar and Manjeet Kochar highly appreciated the relevance of the play. Virendra Baid, President of Rashtriya Kala Mandir, warmly congratulated director Vijay Jora, actor Gaurav Balana, and all the artists.
Secretary Rakesh Monga shed light on the storyline of the play that depicts how an elderly father spends his entire life working tirelessly to build a bright future for his son and daughter. As time passes, the children grow up and become busy, selfish, and materialistic, the father turns into an unwanted burden in the house, faces neglect and humiliation, and eventually, his children decide to send him to an old age home.
