To pay a befitting tribute to Prof. (Dr) Gaurav Vij, who was honored as the Actor by Sangeet Natak Akademi Punjab at the age of less than 47 years, one of the most popular plays that he had directed, “84,85,86 and Marasi” will be staged on 28th and 29th March in DAV College Auditorium Abohar.
This information was shared by Sparsh Theatre Society president Sonu Babbar, Sahil Wadhwa, Neeraj Sachdeva, Pawan Kumar, Ruby Sharma, Ashish Gagneja here today. Other theatre societies including AKS and Natrang have extended cooperation with Sparsh for this event.
They said that “84, 85, 86 and Marasi” was among the plays which got immense success not only in Punjab but also in Rajasthan, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi. After Prof. Vij's sudden death, it was decided to stage this play as a tribute to him.
He was not only a renowned writer, director and artist but poetry also lived deep in his heart. His first poetry collection will also be released during the staging of the play. Through this play, an attempt has been made to awaken the society towards administrative and political shortcomings and evils prevalent in the society by sharply satirizing them.
