The court has also imposed a fine of ₹20,000, with an additional six months of rigorous imprisonment in case of non-payment.
The incident dates back to the night of September 29, 2021, when a minor argument during a drinking session turned fatal.
According to the police investigation, the accused Sohanpal and the deceased Pradeep were consuming alcohol together on the rooftop of Plot No. 120 in Phase-1, Panchkula. During this time, Pradeep complained that he was served less alcohol, which led to a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation. In a fit of rage, Pradeep kicked Sohanpal and attempted to attack him with an iron pipe lying nearby. However, Sohanpal managed to snatch the pipe and repeatedly struck Pradeep on the head. The injuries proved fatal, and Pradeep died on the spot.
