Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Satnam Singh Sandhu says that information technology and artificial intelligence have become a necessity for humans but it should also be ensured that it is used properly and not misused.

He was addressing the 23rd Young Journalist Award Ceremony organized by the Simmi Marwaha Memorial Charitable Trust on Friday at press club Chandigarh. Addressing the journalists, MP Sandhu said that just as an attempt has been made to tarnish the image of Gurpreet Ghuggi recently, the same was done regarding his date of birth, although once he too got upset but then he controlled himself.

He said that it is the need of the hour that today's journalists should be made aware of the serious consequences of the use of AI and other similar aspects so that journalists use it with a positive spirit and not with any ill will.

During this event, senior journalist Rajinder Singh Taggar also told the journalists present about the harassment done to him by the Punjab Police. Taggar told how the Punjab Police registered false cases against him and against whom he is now fighting a legal battle.

In the function, journalist Anil Kakkar of The Tribune Sirsa Haryana, journalist Mohit Pandey of Dainik Jagran Chandigarh, photographer Karun Sharma of Amar Ujala Chandigarh and topper student of Mass Communication correspondence from Panjab University Chandigarh, Priyanka Sharma of Mani Majra were presented with this award in the form of pure silver.

During the function, the life of Simi Marwaha and her performance as a journalist were told. Retired professor Gurmeet Anand of Government College Phase 6 Mohali took a look at Simmi's student life. Famous poet Pal Ajnabi of Nawan Gaon, Jagtar Singh Jog and retired principal Bahadur Singh Gosal of Chandigarh presented their poetic art beautifully. Retired Principal Harpal Singh from Mohali, Kirandeep Kaur Aulakh journalist, Harminder Singh Nagpal journalist, Senior Vice President of Chandigarh Press Club Umesh Sharma, General Secretary Rajesh Dhall, Baljit Singh Marwaha, member of Simmi Marwaha Trust, Shiv Sena Hind President Swami Nishant Sharma of Kali Mata Mandir Kharar were present at the ceremony.
