Jagbir Panu, a private school operator running a school in Bans village of Hisar district of Haryana, was stabbed to death in the school premises by a class XII student studying in his own school.
Expressing his opposition to this heinous murder, NISA National President Kulbhushan Sharma said that this incident has shaken the entire education world. On one hand, the whole country was celebrating Guru Purnima festival with great joy, at the same time, the disciples of the Guru brutally murdered a Guru and sent a wave of grief across the country. The whole country is shocked to see in which direction society is heading today in a country with a legacy of Guru-Shishya tradition.
The sad thing is that neither the state government nor the opposition parties expressed even a word of grief after such a big incident. The Honorable Chief Minister and Education Minister should assure all of us teachers that such incidents will not be repeated in the future. Today the entire teacher community is in the shadow of a fear that how will we do our teaching work in such a distorted mentality.
Private school organizations have taken this decision and today celebrated Black Day in the state by tying black ribbons on their arms to express their anger and also decided that if the criminals are not arrested soon, then they can decide to close all the schools in the state.
The organization also decided that by protesting in all the districts, they will express their anger by submitting a memorandum to the Honorable Chief Minister to their respective DC and SP and will demand that all of us school operators should be provided security by making a school safety law so that all of us school operators can play our role in the progress of the country and the state by teaching in a safe environment.
