As part of the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit, organised a public awareness programme at Nexus Elante Mall, Chandigarh, under the theme “#Azadi from Drugs.” The evening event aimed at spreading awareness, especially among youth, about the dangers of drug abuse and the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle.

The programme began with a powerful nukkad natak (street play) that highlighted issues of drug addiction, peer pressure, and recovery. The performance drew strong reactions from the audience and delivered a clear social message.

School students also presented a creative dance performance showing the journey from addiction to awareness. Their expressive act struck a chord with the public and encouraged positive choices in life.

Adding to the impact, a popular Punjabi singer performed songs that combined entertainment with a message against drugs, urging the audience to say “yes” to life and “no” to drugs.

Special guest Sh. Amandeep Singh, known as the ‘Steel Man of India,’ inspired the gathering with his address. He stressed the importance of discipline, fitness, and living a drug-free life for personal growth as well as national well-being.

Officials of the NCB Chandigarh Zonal Unit were present throughout the event, reaffirming their commitment to the Bureau’s three-pronged strategy of enforcement, awareness, and community participation in the fight against drug abuse.
The programme concluded with a collective pledge: “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Life!”

The Narcotics Control Bureau continues to work with dedication to eliminate drug abuse and trafficking through strong enforcement, active awareness campaigns, and public cooperation.
