Unknown miscreants entered journalist Mangi Lal's house in Nohar in Hanumangarh district and attacked with sharp weapons and sticks, in which Mangi Lal, his wife Neetu and sister-in-law Nishu were seriously injured. Due to Mangi Lal's critical condition, he was referred to Sirsa, while his wife and sister-in-law are undergoing treatment at the Government Hospital in Nohar.
On Mangi Lal's statement, the police have registered a case against the unknown miscreants under the BNS and started raids. None has been arrested so far.
Leaders of Bhim Army, various journalist organizations and political parties reached Nohar police station and demanded the immediate arrest of the attackers. Bhim Army District President Alok has warned of gherao of the police station.
Nohar MLA Amit Chachan, Panchayat Samiti Pradhan Sohan Dheel, CPI(M) leader Mangej Chaudhary, former MLA Abhishek Matoria and former Madrasa Board Chairperson Mehrunisa Tak have strongly condemned the incident. They termed it an "attack on democracy" and a "cowardly act" and demanded immediate action. A meeting of journalists has been called at Sain Dharamshala in Nohar on Monday morning, in which the strategy of the movement will be discussed.
Police station in-charge Ishwar Nand Sharma said that the police were investigating the incident and raids are being conducted to arrest the attackers.
