SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR ELDERLY FLOOD-AFFECTED PERSONS AT OLD-AGE HOMES

  Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur today visited flood-affected areas of village Noor Shah, in Fazilka and personally distributed relief material to the affected families.

The minister emphasized that there is no shortage of funds for relief operations. In Fazilka constituency alone, relief material worth over Rs 70 lakh has been distributed. This includes the supply of 4,558 ration kits and 2,017 bags of cattle feed, along with other essential items. Relief camps are also being equipped with all basic facilities.

She assured that once the flood water recedes, special girdawari (crop loss assessment) will be carried out to compensate for damages. She informed that old-age homes have been opened for elderly persons displaced by floods, while special directions have been issued to prioritize the evacuation of differently-abled persons.

Dr. Baljit Kaur reviewed relief measures with Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu and other officials. She also interacted with volunteers engaged in relief activities, encouraging them to continue supporting flood-affected families.

The Minister also distributed sanitary pads and mosquito nets to women and Food Kits to all families at Noor Shah village. ADC (Development) Subhash Chander and SDM Veerpal Kaur were present. The Minister, along with MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna, also joined flood-hit families for a community langar meal organized at the flood relief site.
