TWO ACCUSED SENT TO JAIL FOR ₹7 LAKH “WORK-FROM-HOME” SCAM; TWO OTHERS ARRESTED FROM GUJARAT FOR ₹1.75 CRORE INVESTMENT FRAUD — ONE SENT TO JAIL, THE OTHER ON REMAND

The Cyber Crime Police Station team of Panchkula Police, under the leadership of Cyber SHO Yudhvir Singh, has achieved major success by arresting four accused involved in two separate cyber fraud cases totaling nearly ₹1.82 crore (₹1.75 crore and ₹7.33 lakh). Three of the accused have been sent to jail, while one remains on police remand.---
Case 1: ₹1.75 Crore Share Market Investment Fraud
During media interaction, ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj on Monday, said, Panchkula resident lodged a complaint at the Cyber Police Station on July 31, 2024.
According to the complaint, on July 5, 2024, the victim came across an advertisement related to the share market on Facebook and liked it. Subsequently, the victim received a WhatsApp message containing a link promising double profits through stock market investments. Falling into the trap, the complainant invested money and ended up losing approximately ₹1.75 crore to the cyber fraudsters.
Considering the seriousness of the matter, a case was registered under sections 316(2), 318(4), 336(3), 338, 340, and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the investigation was handed over to Sub-Inspector Bhup Singh.
During the investigation, the police team conducted a raid in Kutch district, Gujarat, and arrested the ninth accused, Arvind Bhanushali, son of Karam Singh, a resident of New Janata Colony, Gandhidham (Kutch, Gujarat), on November 8. The court has granted six days of police remand for further interrogation to uncover the wider fraud network.
Prior to this, eight other accused — Krishan Kumar, Subhash, Sanjay Kumar alias Boxer, Tejendra Pal Singh, Harjeet Singh, Parvinder, Harry, and Chetan — had already been arrested at different times and sent to judicial custody. Police interrogation has led to several key revelations, and more suspects are being identified.
Case 2: ₹7.33 Lakh “Work-from-Home” Fraud
In another case, the Panchkula Cyber Crime team arrested two accused — Sajay Khan and Nizam Khan, both residents of Kadma, Charkhi Dadri district, for cheating a victim of ₹7.33 lakh through fraudulent “work-from-home” offers advertised on Instagram and Telegram.
The duo was produced before the court on November 6 and taken on four-day police remand. After interrogation, both have now been sent to judicial custody.
ACP Crime Arvind Kamboj further stated that the police are maintaining strict surveillance on cybercrime activities and continuously spreading awareness among the public. Citizens are advised not to fall for online investment or social media offers promising quick profits.
