The Defence Hindu Network (DHN) celebrated the festival of Diwali with a special event at Neasden Temple, bringing together members of the Armed Forces, their families, and the wider community to honour the shared values of light, service, and unity.

The evening’s programme began with Vedic prayers for peace and harmony across the world. A vibrant cultural presentation followed, featuring a traditional Gurkha (Khukuri) dance and devotional singing by swamis and volunteers of the Mandir.

Major General Brown said, “This festival holds deep significance for many across Defence and the wider UK. It’s a great privilege to join you in celebrating this moment of light, hope, and unity”.

The Chief Guest for the celebration was Major General Oliver Charles Christopher Brown CBE, General Officer Commanding 3rd (United Kingdom) Division of the British Army, who joined Warrant Officer Class One (now Captain) Christopher Stephen Nicol and Flight Lieutenant Nigam Joshi, Chair of the Defence Hindu Network, in extending festive greetings to all attendees.

Rena Amin, a senior volunteer for BAPS UK & Europe, said, “Diwali is a time of gratitude. It was an honour to appreciate today all the courageous men and women who serve our nation with dedication and integrity.”
