The Cyber Crime Police Station, UT Chandigarh has successfully arrested cyber fraudster from Ludhiana by arresting cyber fraudster under the dynamic leadership of Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, SP-Cyber Crime, UT Chandigarh, with strategic guidance from Sh. A. Venkatesh, DSP Cyber Crime, and the close supervision of Inspector Ms. Eram Rizvi, SHO, PS-Cyber Crime, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
The accused Yadunandan Sharma S/o late Sh Surinder Sharma, 151 Sudan Mohalla Dersai Road Ludhiana, 24 years FIR No. 142 dated 04.12.2025 U/s 308, 318(4), 319(2), 336(3), 338, 340(2), 61(2) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita PS Cyber Crime
This case was registered on 27.10.2025 on the complaint of senior citizen from Sector-45, Chandigarh that he received a WhatsApp call, where the callers fraudulently posed as TRAI officials and later as officers of the Enforcement Directorate, alleging that his mobile number was involved in money laundering and that a case had been registered against him at Colaba Police Station.
The fraudsters kept him under prolonged fake "video-surveillance" from 27-10-2025 to 12-11-2025, during which they showed him forged government documents, a fabricated courtroom setup, and repeatedly threatened him with arrest, including through conference calls on WhatsApp with another impersonator with claiming to be an ED Director. Under this pressure, he transferred 52 lakhs as instructed by the fraudsters, thereby being cheated of a total amount of ₹52 lakh.
During the course of investigation, KYC details of the alleged beneficiary bank accounts were collected from the concerned bank. Rs. 28 Lacs approximately has been put on hold of the complainant through Cyber Portal. Rest of the amount was found transferred in several accounts.
An amount of Rs. 5 lacs found transferred in the bank account of Yadunandan Sharma . which was withdrawn by him through self cheque. Accordingly, a raid conducted at Ludhiana and accused was arrested from there on 25.12.2025. The accused produced in the court and sent to judicial custody. Further investigation is in progress.
