PANCHKULA POLICE ARRESTED ACCUSED DUPING RS. 13 LAKH ON PRETEXT OF SENDING AUSTRALIA, REMANDED 3 DAYS CUSTODY

Anti-Immigration Fraud Unit of Panchkula Police reported to have arrested the main accused in a cheating case involving ₹13 lakh, where money was taken on the false promise of sending a youth to Australia.

The case pertains to October 2023, when a Panchkula resident complained that his son was duped after being assured overseas migration. The accused, identified as Onkar Singh of Ambala, allegedly demanded ₹32 lakh and collected ₹13 lakh in installments but neither arranged the travel nor returned the money.

DCP Srishti Gupta, said FIR was registered at Raipur Rani Police Station on November 26, 2025, under Sections 406, 420 and 120-B IPC and Section 24 of the Immigration Act.

The accused physically disabled arrested on January 5, 2026, produced before the court on January 6, and sent to three days’ police remand. The accused is physically disabled.

Police said further interrogation has revealed the involvement of other suspects, and raids are underway to arrest them. The investigation is being conducted by ASI Rakesh.

The DCP advised citizens to verify credentials thoroughly and deal only with authorized and registered agents before paying money for overseas travel, jobs, or visas, and to report any suspected fraud immediately to the police.
