Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh, in collaboration with the Climate Compatible Growth (CCG–UK) Programme, will host the Energy Modelling Platform for India (EMP-India 2026) from February 9 to 20, 2026, at its Sector-14 campus.

Only 20 seats are available for EMP-India 2026. The programme is free of cost. The last date to apply is January 25, 2026, at 12:00 noon (IST).

EMP-India 2026 is Asia’s first country-specific energy modelling capacity-building programme and will be conducted as a two-week, in-person intensive training initiative. The programme aims to strengthen evidence-based energy and resource planning in India through capacity building in integrated modelling approaches.

The training will focus on the Climate, Land-Use, Energy and Water Systems (CLEWS/CLEWS++) framework—an open-source modelling tool widely used to assess policy trade-offs related to clean energy transition, agricultural modernisation and water-resource competition. The initiative is aligned with India’s long-term climate goals, including its commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070.

The programme is designed for researchers, faculty members, postgraduate students, government officials, and professionals working in energy, climate policy, and sustainable development. Participants will receive hands-on training from national and international experts associated with the CCG Programme.

The organisers said EMP-India 2026 builds on the global experience of the Climate Compatible Growth initiative, which has successfully conducted similar Energy Modelling Platforms in several countries, training hundreds of professionals in open-source energy planning tools. The India edition marks the first such country-focused initiative in Asia.
