The Vigilance Bureau has caught a senior assistant posted at the SSP office in Barnala red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigation has been initiated. However, the accused, Davinder Singh, has termed the allegations against him as false and baseless.
According to information received by the Vigilance Bureau’s Barnala unit, the accused had demanded a bribe from a police officer in exchange for completing an official task. It was reported that ASI Makkhan Shah, posted in the Punjab Police in Barnala, had applied for a three-year extension in his service.
Allegedly, Davinder Singh, a senior assistant at the SSP office, demanded ₹10,000 from the ASI to process the application. To expose the accused, ASI Makkhan Shah approached the Vigilance Bureau and filed a complaint.
Acting on the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team conducted a trap operation and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe. In this regard, a case number 4 has been registered against Davinder Singh at the Vigilance Bureau, Patiala, and further investigation is underway.
