The sacred Mahaveer Janm Kalyanak Mahamahotsav (Mahaveer Jayanti) of Bhagwan Mahaveer Swami was celebrated with great devotion, enthusiasm, and grandeur.
The day’s programme commenced in the morning at Shri Shwetambar Jain Mandir, Sector 28, with the Hon’ble Governor Gulab Chand Kataria offering prayers and paying obeisance to Bhagwan. Thereafter, Bhagwan was ceremoniously placed in a chariot, and at 9:30 AM, the Governor flagged off the grand Shobha Yatra.
The procession, comprising around 200 devotees, moved forward with devotional fervor. Accompanied by melodious band performances, devotees danced joyfully as the beautifully decorated chariot carrying Bhagwan led the yatra. The procession reached Shri Digamber Jain Mandir, Sector 27 at 10:15 AM, where a Dharam Sabha was held along with cultural programs.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Governor Gulab Chand Kataria highlighted the teachings of Bhagwan Mahaveer Swami. He stated that even after 2025 years, people are not merely following his persona but embracing his ideology, which is truly significant. He emphasized that the principles of Bhagwan Mahaveer are the only solution to present-day global challenges and must be imbibed in our lives. The Governor was also felicitated with sacred scriptures. The stage proceedings were conducted by Shri Sant Kumar Jain.
Other distinguished dignitaries present on the occasion included Pawan Bansal, Satpal Jain, Davinder Babla, Lalit Jain, Gaurav Jain, and Sanjeev Jain. All dignitaries shared their thoughts on the teachings of Bhagwan Mahaveer. Shri Pradeep Jain (on behalf of Shwetambar Jain Samaj), Shri Mukesh Jain (Jain Sthanak), and Shri Manoj Jain (Anuvrat Bhawan) also expressed their views.
At Shri Digamber Jain Mandir, Sector 27, Bhagwan Mahaveer was again placed in a chariot, and at 11:00 AM, the Shobha Yatra proceeded towards Jain Sthanak, Sector 18. During this leg, the Hon’ble Governor, dignitaries, the chariot carrying Bhagwan, and thousands of devotees walked together. Along the route, the Governor was warmly welcomed and honored with tilak and garlands by community members including Harish Jain, Naresh Jain, Gurudwara Sahib Sector 19, Arise Dental Clinic Sector 18, and Rajiv Goyal. Refreshments such as tea, cold drinks, and water were served to all devotees.
The yatra reached Jain Sthanak at 12:00 noon, where the community honored the Governor. He also had the opportunity to seek blessings from the five Sadhvis present there.
Subsequently, the Governor visited Anuvrat Bhawan, Sector 24, and paid his respects to Muni Vinay Alok. Thereafter, he returned to Shri Mandir Ji Sector 27 and attended the community lunch.
The Shobha Yatra returned to Shri Digamber Jain Mandir, Sector 27 at 12:30 PM, where Bhagwan was placed at the Pandukshila in Ahimsa Park, and hundreds of devotees performed Abhishek. Later, Bhagwan was reinstalled in the temple.
The grand event witnessed the esteemed presence of managing committees of all four sects of the Jain community. From Shri Digamber Jain Society, prominent members including Shri Dharm Bahadur Jain, Shri Sant Kumar Jain, Shri Adarsh Jain (Advocate), Shri Karun Jain, Shri Sharad Jain, Shri Neeraj Jain, and many others were present.
On this occasion, Shri Dharm Bahadur Jain, President of Shri Digamber Jain Society, expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Governor for his inspiring guidance. He also thanked the Chandigarh Administration and the entire Jain community for their wholehearted support in making the event a grand success. Thousands of devotees participated in the celebrations, partook in the langar, and created an atmosphere filled with devotion, enthusiasm, and unity.
