In a shocking case of suspected honor killing, the Panchkula Police have arrested two accused within just two hours of committing a brutal murder. The accused—identified as the victim’s brother-in-law (Saala) and his associate—were working as delivery boys for Zomato.
DCP Srishti Gupta, the victim, Shivam, hqwad entered into a love marriage around three months ago with a woman named Golu. The marriage was strongly opposed by her brother, who allegedly harbored deep resentment. Driven by this grudge, the accused—who shares the same name, Shivam (20)—along with his friend Rahul (19), conspired to kill him. Notably, both the victim and the main आरोपी were originally from Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh, and were once close friends.
The incident occurred earlier Tuesday when Shivam had gone to drop his mother at Industrial Area Phase-1. On his way back, near the Sector-19 roundabout, the accused—lying in wait—attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon (gandasa). The severely injured victim was rushed to a hospital in Sector-6, where doctors declared him dead.
Following the crime, the accused fled the scene. However, acting swiftly, police teams including Dial 112, the crime scene unit, Sector-20 police station, and Sector-19 outpost launched a coordinated operation. Under the leadership of Inspector Sombir Dhaka, the team tracked and apprehended both accused from Zirakpur, Punjab, within two hours.
The murder weapon—a blood-stained gandasa—has been recovered.
