The Himachal Pradesh team won the gold medal at the 1st Senior National Para Kabaddi Championship 2026, organized by the Para Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (PAKFI), affiliated with the Paralympic Committee of India, at Chandigarh University. The Delhi team secured second place and won the silver medal.
PAKFI President Rajinder Saini stated that this programme proved to be a historic milestone in promoting para sports in the country. He emphasized the importance of such national platforms in encouraging para kabaddi and providing equal opportunities for differently-abled athletes to excel at national and international levels.
The closing ceremony was attended by Indian Volleyball Federation President Virender Kanwar, PAKFI General Secretary Gurdeep Singh, Treasurer Baljeet Singh, Technical Director Pawan Rana, members Narendra Rana and Sandeep, and Indian para athletics coach Bansi Lal, along with officials, coaches, and players from all participating states.
Teams from across the country participated enthusiastically in the championship, showcasing exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship during the three-day event.
The spirit of participation, unity, and resilience displayed by all teams was also appreciated during the closing ceremony. Dignitaries congratulated the medal winners and praised the efforts of all players for their outstanding performances.
