Addressing the gathering at Anaj Mandi, Fazilka, CM said that Rs 190 crore is being spent on developing 3100 playgrounds to channelise youth energy positively.
Detailing development works, he said, “Projects worth Rs 283.99 crore have been launched in Fazilka to boost infrastructure, irrigation, connectivity and public services. These include rural link roads, widening and upgradation of roads, renovation of bridges and development of grain markets. No stone will be left unturned for development of this border district and the feasibility of a new medical college will also be explored.”
The CM ordered a special girdawari to assess crop damage due to recent hail storms and unseasonal rain in the Malwa belt. He was told that on Tuesday afternoon wheat crops in hundreds of acres in Abohar and Fazilka besides other districts had been damaged by rain accompanied by hailstorm. The CM directed the administration to carry out a survey on priority basis and recommend compensation accordingly. He distributed cheques to the villagers who were affected by floods in the past.
