PUNJAB ANNOUNCES CENTRALIZED LAW ADMISSIONS FOR THE SESSION 2026–27

Department of Higher Education, Punjab Government,l, vide notification No. HED-EDU10NOTC/1/2020-3edu/1357632/2026, has appointed Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as the competent authority to conduct centralized online counselling for various law courses for the academic session 2026–27.

Dr. Anshu Kataria, President, Punjab Unaided Colleges Association (PUCA) & Chairman, Aryans College of Law, Rajpura (Near Chandigarh), said that a total of 7,412 seats are available across Punjab in different law programmes. These include 600 seats in B.A. LL.B (Hons.) 5 Years, 3,390 seats in B.A. LL.B 5 Years, 2,702 seats in LL.B 3 Years, 510 seats in B.Com LL.B 5 Years, 60 seats in B.Com LL.B (Hons.) 5 Years, and 150 seats in B.B.A. LL.B 5 Years. He further added that management quota seats, included within these totals, are 77 in B.A. LL.B (Hons.), 437 in B.A. LL.B, 432 in LL.B, 65 in B.Com LL.B, 8 in B.Com LL.B (Hons.), and 19 in B.B.A. LL.B.

Dr. Kataria stated that law courses are witnessing a significant rise in demand across the state. He highlighted that last year, seats in almost all law programmes were fully occupied, and similar trends are expected this year as well. He further added that due to increasing restrictions on immigration, more students are opting for professional courses within India, which is likely to lead to early filling of seats in the current admission cycle.
