HIGH PROFILE GAMBLERS INDULGED IN ILLEGAL ONLINE BETTING IN IPL MATCHES ARRESTED

GAMBLERS USES ILLEGAL ONLINE APPLICATIONS NAMELY BULLET APP, I-BET ASSISTANCE, TIGER 24X7 ETC FOR BETTING, 31 SMARTPHONES, 03 LAPTOPS & OTHER E-GADGETS RECOVERED, SEVEN HIGH PROFILE GAMBLERS ARRESTED.

In view of the on-going IPL (INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE), 2023 Cricket League Matches, ISC/Crime Branch has kept watch on the individuals indulged in illegal activities of cricket betting. The team have received specific information about online cricket betting in IPL being organized at I-3, 35-36, Second Floor, Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi and apprehended seven cricket bookies of organized online cricket betting while they were exchanging money related to cricket betting and seized 31 Smartphones, 03 Laptops and other high end gadgets from their possession. 

The team of ISC, Crime Branch was tasked to curb the menace of illegal betting in the ongoing cricket matches of Indian Premier League (IPL).

Specific information was received to HC Sachin Kumar that a syndicate of gamblers are betting in ongoing IPL matches at I-3, 35-36, Second Floor, Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi. On the basis of inputs received, a team comprising of SI Vikas, SI Sunil Panwar, ASI Anil, ASI Krishanpal, ASI Kavinder, HC Sachin, HC Amit, HC Monit, HC Harender, HC Sonu, HC Pawan, HC Ambrish, W/HC Pushpa, Ct. Yogender and Ct. Ashish led by Insp Manmeet Malik, under the close supervision of ACP Ramesh Chander Lamba was constituted by DCP Ankit Singh and Joint CP S.D. Mishra, to work upon the information and to raid at the said location.

Mr. Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police Crime, , said, accused persons used illegal online betting applications such as Bullet, Tiger 24x7 etc. through international platforms wherein international betting rates on winnings/losings are displayed while streaming the online matches.The accused persons also used to take line of the live match which is usually a few seconds ahead of the live telecast. Then they used to supply the line further to their other counterparts using Suitcase/Box having numerous mobile phones interconnected with each other carrying out conference calls between them

The team of ISC, Crime Branch readily swung into action and raided the location i.e. I-3, 35-36, Second Floor, Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi, where the gate of flat was found locked. Acting tactfully W/HC Pushpa was deputed to knock the door in order to get it opened and as soon as the gate was opened the team acted swiftly and apprehended seven persons named Rajat @ Ravi Babbar, Mohit Batra @ Prince Batra, Jatin, Shekhar Pal, Pawan Kumar, Ashok Kumar and Chanakya Babbar. They were operating a gambling racket on IPL matches with the help of electronic gadgets. 31 smartphones, 3 laptops and other e-gadgets were recovered from the possession of the accused persons.

MODUS OPERANDI:  Mr. Ravindra Singh Yadav, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police Crime, , said, accused persons used illegal online betting applications such as Bullet, Tiger 24x7 etc. through international platforms wherein international betting rates on winnings/losings are displayed while streaming the online matches.

The accused persons also used to take line of the live match which is usually a few seconds ahead of the live telecast. Then they used to supply the line further to their other counterparts using Suitcase/Box having numerous mobile phones interconnected with each other carrying out conference calls between them. They take bets through other mobile phones from their punters and clients. They also maintain the transactions with the help of i-betting assistant.

PROFILE OF ACCUSED PERSONS:

Rajat @ Ravi Babbar, 40 years, R/o Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi had studied upto 12th class only. Earlier he used to play betting but later he started working as a bookie.

Mohit Batra @ Prince Batra, 31 Years, R/o Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi had studied upto 10th class only. He is handicapped and due to the passion of earning money, he started working as a bookie with Ravi.

Jatin, 39 years, R/o Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi had studied upto 7th class only. Earlier he used to play betting himself but later due to need of money he started working as a bookie with Ravi.

Shekhar Pal, 24 years, R/o Ambedkar Nagar, Haiderpur, Delhi had studied upto 10th class only. Earlier he himself used to play satta but after losing huge money, he started working with Ravi for 2 months.

Pawan Kumar, 30 years, R/o Govind Mohalla, Haiderpur, Delhi had studied upto 12th class only. In the greed of money, he started maintaining bookie account with Ravi.

Ashok Kumar, 38 years, R/o Haiderpur, Delhi had studied upto 12th class only. He is Ravi's partner in this illegal betting business and previously involved in the crime of betting many times.

Chanakya Babbar, 35 years, R/o Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi had studied upto 12th class only. In the greed of money he started illegal betting business.

RECOVERY: 31 Smartphones having various online gambling applications installed. . 3 High End Laptops having online streaming apps and gambling apps installed.
