Punjab Chief Secretary has appreciated the wholehearted support extended by the troops of 65 Battalion and 19 Battalion of the Border Security Force working under the Abohar Sector headquarter, during the recent floods in the areas located near the international border in Fazilka district.

The letter of appreciation from KAP Sinha, Chief Secretary to Govt of Punjab, has been received here.

The CS said that the timely efforts in evacuating stranded villagers and moving them to safety brought much-needed reassurance to the affected families. The medical assistance provided in the affected areas ensured that immediate care reached those most in need while the supply of hot meals brought comfort at a time of great distress.

Sinha further said that the troops have also been assisting in restoring basic services, helping with the movement of essential supplies and ensuring that relief reached even the most remote villages cut off by floodwaters. Their work in carrying out anti-malaria fumigation and holding awareness sessions on snakebite management has further strengthened public health efforts during this crisis. He has appreciated the leadership and dedication with which BSF officers and men have served.

The BSF had organised general medical check-up, veterinary and awareness camps also besides rescuing hundreds of stranded people including old-age women from the affected villages.
