GOLD MEDAL IN SUB-JUNIOR NATIONAL ARCHERY IN PUNJAB’S KIT AFTER 31 YEARS

Keshav Rajoria, an alumnus of LRS DAV Senior Secondary Model School, Abohar, has become the Sub-Junior Archery National Champion. The 42nd NTPC Sub-Junior National Archery Championship was held at the Golden Jubilee Outdoor Stadium in Yupia near Itanagar. Organised by the Arunachal Archery Association (AAA), under the aegis of the Archery Association of India (AAI), the competition concluded on November 30.

The event featured recurve, compound, and Indian round for boys and girls. As many as 46 teams from 28 states, 8 Union Territories and 10 affiliated archery teams vied for the top honours during the championship.

Keshav won the overall gold medal. “My Choice” Archery Company honoured him with a cheque of Rs 30,000. On return here, he and coach Ravi Kumar were felicitated at the DAV School sports ground.

A gold medal in recurve archery (sub-junior) has come to Punjab after 31 years. Earlier, his coach, Ravi Kumar, had won gold medals for three consecutive years 1992 (Delhi), 1993 (Cuttack), 1994 (Patiala) at the National level.

Kulbir Singh Kang, a retired IAS officer and key promoter of archery in Abohar and neighbouring areas, terming 2025 as a “landmark year for Indian archery”. He highlighted India’s exceptional performance on global platforms, including first-ever gold at World Archery Championship-2025, a historic medal tally at the 24th Asian Archery Championships and a remarkable seven-medal haul at World Archery Para Championship-2025.
