in a henious crime of Rape and murder of a minor girl on 03.06.2025, Chandigarh court announced death sentence to the accused in the year 2025. Fast-Track Special Court, Chandigarh, awarded the death penalty to Heera Lal Guddu (41) for the rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Hallo Majra in FIR No. 9 dated 19.01.2024 u/s 363 IPC added 302, 201, 511, 376 (3), 376 (AB) IPC & 6 POCSO Act PS-31. This is the first death sentence issued by the court since its formation in August 2020. On 03.03.2024, charges were framed against Heera Lal @ Guddu. After examining 45 witnesses, the Hon’ble Court of Dr. Yashika, ASJ, Chandigarh, sentenced him on 03.06.2025 (within 16 months)
TAXI DRIVER GETS LIFE IMPRISONMENT FOR RAPE-MURDER OF MBA STUDENT (NEHA MURDER CASE):- Chandigarh court sentenced taxi driver Monu Kumar to life imprisonment for the rape and murder of a 21-year-old MBA student committed in July 2010 in Sector 38 West, Chandigarh.
After remaining untraced for almost 15 years, He was finally identified through DNA evidence that matched samples taken from the victim’s clothes and body, leading to his conviction under sections 302 and 376 of the IPC. The court called the crime brutal and observed that the convict did not deserve sympathy, while the victim’s parents felt that even a life sentence was too lenient for such a remorseless killer. BLIND MURDER CASE OF SANDEEP, WHO FOUND DEAD NEAR GOVT. SCHOOL SECTOR 54: The blind murder case of Sandeep was successfully solved by Chandigarh Police through sustained and meticulous efforts. On 14.04.2025, the half-naked body of Sandeep, a resident of Ambala (Haryana), was found near a Government School in Sector-54, Chandigarh, with visible injuries on the head, throat, and chest, leading to the registration of FIR No. 56 dated 14.04.2025 under Section 103(1) BNS at Police Station-39. A special team comprising 35 police personnel worked continuously for 3–4 days, scanned over 700 CCTV footage clips from Chandigarh, Mohali, and Ambala, and examined nearly 4,000 persons. As a result, the accused Rohit @ Rocky (20), an illiterate labourer with no previous criminal record and resident of Ambala Cantt, was arrested on 23.04.2025 near Entry Gate No. 1 of Ambala Cantt Railway Station.
DHANAS BLIND MURDER CASE - Chandigarh Police have solved the blind murder case of a 25-year-old man, Akash, whose decomposed body was found in Patiala Ki Rao drain near the Dhanas bridge. The police arrested three accused namely Sonu alias Bunty, Harsh, and Suraj alias Kancha, all residents of Dhanas.During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had initially tried to snatch Akash’s mobile phone and later forced him to consume alcohol. After Akash became intoxicated, they brutally assaulted and killed him using glass pieces and stones.
