Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan declared 2026 as "Year of Peace" during an event organised at the Democratic Lawn of the Lahore High Court Bar Association. The function was presided over by Imtiaz Rasheed Qureshi, Chairman of Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Raja Zulqarnain Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Patron-in-Chief of the Foundation and former Secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Prominent speakers included Malik Ehtesham-ul-Hassan, Raja Abdul Sattar Advocate, Fida Hussain Matta Advocate, Shehbaz Rasheed Qureshi Advocate and Tariq Amin Advocate. They emphasized that lasting peace between Pakistan and India is essential for stability, development, and prosperity in South Asia. They stated that without peace, progress in the region remains impossible, and that both nations must rise above past conflicts and work collectively for a peaceful future.

A cake-cutting ceremony was held to symbolize the collective commitment to peace, friendship, and mutual respect between the people of Pakistan and India. The organizers reaffirmed that the Bhagat Singh Memorial Foundation Pakistan will continue its efforts to promote peace, tolerance, and human rights across borders.

They urged the governments of both countries to restore the bilateral visa system to allow people-to-people contact. It was highlighted that Indian women married in Pakistan are often denied visas to visit their parents in India, while Pakistani women married in India face similar restrictions when attempting to visit their families in Pakistan. They appealed to the United Nations to play its due role in facilitating dialogue, restoring the visa regime, and promoting peaceful relations between Pakistan and India for the greater good of regional harmony.
